Pop-Filter DIY

I'm too cheap and lazy to buy a pop filter. I heard I could, so I did. I cut out two squares form nylons (only one of them stretched large enough), set it between an embroidery hoop and cut away the excess. Bam. Easy. Let's see if it works.

Hey-- I'm back. The gear really is awesome. My pop filter did not work, so I'm buying one online. It's the most popular pop filter on amazon and has some really great reviews.

My capo, which broke a few years ago, is finally being replaced. I bought this yesterday. Free shipping, too. And it's yellow. Hooraaah. :D

The Gear.

Let's just say that i might be getting a very nice recording system for Christmas. Well-- the microphone is okay, along with the headphones, but supposedly the condenser and other.. erm... things? are awesome.
My bloggy techyy recordy man says I need quality equipment. I have a nice little microphone stand already. And I should be getting some wonderful gear in a few days. I don't get one of those felty voicey things, but idk if I need it, so lollz?

I--I--I can't play in time. It's a terrible habit, and I've never needed to, but to be taken seriously I must work on all of my skills. So, until I can begin recording, I'll be practicing.

Questions.

I'm reading a post about independent music production, and there's a lovely little man giving me recommendations. He says that first I need to answer a few questions. I ran to grab my notebook, but instead decided to answer them here. I'm supposed to study the music that is popular right now, then provide my opinions. Here goes.

1. What makes this song catchy?
The beat, and the overall rhythm. The melody just hooks you in, and part of you believes the lyrics.
2. Why is this a hit?
It has the power to create emotions. People who feel ugly can suddenly see their inner beauty. They believe in themselves because the song tells them they can do anything
3. What makes the artist likeable?
He's genuine. He talks to his fans constantly, gives them advice. He has a special look that makes you want to follow him around like a puppy. You're able to make that connection with him, and you begin to feel like you know him.
4. Where will this song be 20 years from now?
Hopefully still playing. It has a catholic appeal.

I want to appeal to everyone. I want to inspire people, and I want my songs to ring in their little minds forever. I want a single note played randomly somewhere to bring them back to a special night where they heard my song and truly lived. So I guess I'm right on track with the music industry's ploys? ;D

Oh, if you don't like emoticons then I apologize. Sometimes my sarcasm is too dry and people can't understand, so I have to use emoticons to help my friends out a bit. If I don't, then they call me a bitch via Facebook. I'm just so accustomed to employing smiley faces 24/7 that I can't type any other way. YAY!

Creating a Name. And a Blog.

How many people document their lives? Too many. A few minutes ago, while watching That '70's Show, I decided to document my adventure in music. Let's just leave all my silly anecdotes for later. You'll get to know me after a few more posts because -shocker!- I love to talk about myself.
The basics:
I'm a teenage girl who loves art and wants to make people happy.
So, I'm pretty much every teenage girl. I have the typical wants and needs.

The name: I want to inspire people. That's why I want to create music. I'm trying to be the best person I can be and I want to help as many people as possible. This seems like an obvious wish, perhaps a bit cliche, but it's a genuine desire.
Right now I'm learning how to create my own music. I'm learning how to treat people better. The blog is here to document my experiences, and thus the name "Learning How to 'Create to Inspire'" seems perfect.

Good luck, dear reader. You'll need it.
